Gillecrist as earl of Mar × confirmation of Bishop John of Aberdeen, who d. 13 Oct. 1207. Gillecrist became earl at some point in the 1180s, certainly by 1189. <em>Dunf. Reg.</em>, no. 147; <em>RRS</em>, ii, no. 284. Orabilis, his wife, was called ‘countess of Mar’ by 4 Aug. 1188.
