Dating Notes
Last attestation of Abbot Patrick of Dunfermline × death of Abbot William II. Watt points out that Master Peter of Ramsey, who witnesses this document, was found in Scotland around 1217×18 (witnessing Malcolm, earl of Fife’s foundation of Culross Abbey), but seems to have been absent (perhaps in Paris) until 1227, and was again away at Oxford in the mid-1230s. For this reason the charter has been placed in the 1210 cohort.
