The terminus post quem comes from the last known attestation of Robert as dean; the terminus ante quem comes from Robert of Leicester’s first known attestation as dean. According to Watt, Alexander was not known as ‘Master’ until the mid-1220s (<em>Graduates</em>, 7-8).
