Described by Stevenson and Wood as his first seal; appended to charters dated 2nd June 1254, and therefore used contemporaneously with his supposed second seal. This single-sided seal depicts the bishop front face and with a mitre, standing on a carved corbel with his right hand raised in benediction and his left holding a crozier turned inwards. On the *dexter* a crescent and on the *sinister* a star of eight points.
