Biography
The lordship or thanage of ‘Rathenec’ in Moray, now lost, has been discussed recently in Geoffrey W.S. Barrow, ‘The Lost Place-names of Moray’, Journal of Scottish Name Studies 2 (2008), 11-18, at pp. 15-16. Barrow’s own opinion was that it lay between Dipple and Orton, which are both on the west bank of the Spey between Rothes and Fochabers.
