Biography
The Anglo-French term pasturel; OFr pastorel, is a diminutive from pastor, a keeper of sheep, which was also apparently used to denote a simpleton. Reaney and Wilson, _Dictionary_, 340. Note modern surname forms Le Paturel, Pastrell.
