Celestine III, pope (d.1198)

Biography
Kelly, Oxford Dictionary of Popes, 184-86: Celestine was born Giacinto Bobone (or Bobo) from the noble family of Boboni (later Orsini) in around 1105. He was a pupil under Peter Abelard (d. 1142) in Paris. He was created cardinal by Celestine II in 1144. He was a cardinal for forty-seven years before his election after Clement?s death to the papal see. He was a deacon but was ordained priest on 13 April and consecrated as pope the next day, Easter. Celestine died at Rome on 8 January 1198.
