William Wickwane, archbishop of York (d.1285)

Biography
William de Wickwane held the title of master and might have been a student of Paris or Oxford. By January 1264 he was chancellor of York and in that month also received the rectory of Ivinghoe, Buckinghamshire. From at least 1268 he was also canon and prebendary of Newbald. He was elected in April 1279 to the archbishopric of York and was consecrated at Viterbo on 26 August. He left for the curia again, reaching Pontigny Abbey by December 1284; having become ill, he returned to Pontigny and died on 26 or 27 August 1285. [http://www.oxforddnb.com/view/article/29351]
