Robert Bruce II (d.1194)

Biography
Robert (II) de Bruce (Brus) was the second son of Robert (I) (d.1142), lord of Annandale, and his wife, Agnes, probable daughter of Geoffrey Bainard, sheriff of York. Upon his father's death, he inherited Annandale and Hartness in Durham. He had a brother, Adam (d.1143). Robert was perhaps born after 1120. He married Euphemia, niece of William, earl of Albemarle, and they had three sons (Robert (III) (d.a.1191), William, Bernard) and a daughter, Agatha, who married Ralph, son of Ribald of Middleham. He probably died on either 17 February or 26 August 1194, perhaps being buried in Guisborough Priory, and was succeeded by his second son, William. A.A.M.
