Joan, queen of Scots (d.1238)

Biography
Joan was born on 22 July 1210 and was the eldest daughter of John (d.1216), king of England, and his second wife, Isabella of Angoulême (d.1246). She was the sister of King Henry III (d.1272), Richard, earl of Cornwall and king of Germany, Eleanor, countess of Pembroke and Leicester, and Isabella, consort of Frederick II. http://www.oxforddnb.com/view/article/14820 On 19 June 1221, she was married to Alexander II, king of Scots, and may have been betrothed to him in 1212 as part of negotiations to secure the marriage of Alexander. The day before, she had been assigned dower estates work £1,000 yearly. By 1236, she was also given the manors of Driffield in Yorkshire, and Fen Stanton, Huntingdonshire, by her brother, Henry III. In September 1237, she left York on a pilgrimage to Canterbury. Joan died at Havering (Essex) on 4 March 1238, in the presence of King Henry and her other brother, Richard, and was buried at Tarrant Nunnery (Dorset).
