Malcolm (II), earl of Fife (d.1266)

Medieval Name
Máel Coluim
Modern Gaelic Name
Maol Caluim
Biography
Malcolm (II), earl of Fife, was a son of Duncan, a younger son of Earl Duncan (II) of Fife. The Chronicle of Melrose informs us that Earl Malcolm II 'married the daughter of Llywelyn'. This unnamed Welshwoman has recently been identified as Susanna, daughter of Llywelyn, prince of North Wales and Joanna, an illegitimate daughter of King Henry III. It has also been suggested that this marriage probably took place in the early 1230's. See Kathryn Hurlock, 'The Welsh wife of Malcolm, Earl of Fife (d. 1266): An Alternative Suggestion', Scottish Historical Review, 88 (2009), 352-355
