Geoffrey of Norwich, dean of York (fl.1218-38)

Biography
Fasti Ecclesiae Anglicanae 1066-1300, vi, 13-17: Geoffrey of Norwich was the son of a priest. He was a canon of York, occuring 17 June 1218. He first appears as precentor of York circa 24 June 1220 and was still styled precentor as of 29 March 1233. By 14 December 1234, he was dean of York (prob. by 28 Dec. 1233). On 18 March 1236, he was given a papal dispensation, due to his birth, to hold the deanery and an unidentified prebend. He last occurs on 28 May 1238. One of his executors was Simon of Evesham, precentor of York.
