John of Spalding/Dundee, master, canon (fl.1282×96-1310)

Biography
Watt, Graduates, 499: John of Spalding was perhaps from Spalding (Lincs) though the name is found in Scotland earlier. He had a brother, Simon, who was presumably younger. He was a Master in the church of Moray and occurs under the name Spalding (fl. 1282×96) and, later, Dundee (fl.Mar.1295), which he might have taken from the benefice of Dundee. His first benefice was Ochiltree (AYR) which he resigned 1292×96. He occurs as a canon of Moray with the prebend of Duffus (as Dundee) 1282×96. He was still a canon of Moray in 1310. He was also a canon of Aberdeen. John is not found after 23 March 1310.
