William de Blois, bishop of Lincoln (d.1206)

Biography
Fasti Ecclesiae Anglicanae 1066-1300, iii, 1-5, 12-15, 21-24, 59-60: William was probably from Loir-et-Cher, France and was perhaps related to Hugh de Puiset, bishop of Durham (d.1195), and the Blois family. He was a member of Bishop Hugh's household but was not a canon when he occurs in 1180/81. He was a chaplain of the bishop of Lincoln between September 1189 and around 1193, and he might have held the prebend of Caistor. He was subdean of Lincoln, occurring first on 22 March 1194 and appointed precentor there in 1197. He first occurs in that office on 29 March 1198 and before 6 June 1199. He remained precentor until he was elected to the bishopric there before 6 July 1203. He was consecrated at Canterbury on 24 August 1203. He died on 10 May 1206.
