Ralph Nowell, bishop of Orkney (fl.1109×14-1151)

Biography
Watt and Murray, Fasti, 323-24: Ralph (Radulf) was a priest at York when he was elected to the see of Orkney by some Orcadians who were then at York. He was consecrated between June 1109 and February 1114. He was at Rheims on 19 October 1119 when Thurstan was consecrated archbishop of York, having accompanied him there. After 1128, he was seemingly unacceptable to the Orcadians and appears from this point only in an English context. He was thought to be alive on 16 June 1151.
