Peter de Tilliol, master, canon (d.1303×14)

Biography
Watt, Graduates, 533-54: Master Peter was a canon of Dunkeld by 1283 and is likely related to Master Ralph de Tilliol, q.v., though a generation later. He may also be related to Robert de Tilliol, who held the family lands between 1296 and 1321, and John de Tilliol, who was active in Cumberland from about 1290 to 1301. He probably travelled to the papal see in 1283 with bishop-elect Hugh of Stirling of Dunkeld as he had returned with Matthew de Crambeth with news of Hugh’s death there. As parson of Culter (LAN), he swore fealty to Edward on 28 August 1296. By February 1298 he may have gone to England to hold the church of Clifton, Cumberland, being described there as a priest. He was granted that church permanently in April 1303 and by June 1314 his successor was said to have resigned.
