Ranulf de Blundeville, earl of Chester (d.1232)

Biography
Ranulf was the eldest son of Hugh, earl of Chester (d.1181), and Bertrada de Montfort, perhaps a sister of Simon de Montfort (d.1188). Ranulf was born in 1170 and had a younger brother, Richard. He married Constance, daughter of Conan IV, duke of Britanny in 1188/89 and Clemence de Fougères in 1200. He left no heirs and his inheritance was divided between his four sisters upon his death at Wallingford on 26 October 1232. His heart was buried at Dieulacres Abbey in Staffordshire and his body was interred at St Werburgh's Abbey in Chester on 3 November. R.
