Description
Robert, king of Scots, has given Melrose abbey in pure and perpetual alms, 100 pounds sterling from the fermes and renders of his vill of Berwick, or if necessary from the new custom by the hands of his mayor, baillies, fermars or customars of his vill of Berwick, on Pentecost and Martinmas. He commands the sheriff of Berwick and his baillies to compel payment within one month under penalty of ten marks to be applied to the abbey's fabric.
