Description
Robert, king of Scots, has given his beloved and faithful James, lord of Douglas, knight, for his homage and service, the barony of Staplegordon (DMF) with pertinents in Eskdale; in free burgh as in the times of his ancestors the kings of Scots, in feu and heritage, in perpetuity, and in free barony, with pit and gallows, sake and soke, toll, team and infangenthef, with bondi, bondages, neyfs, and their offspring, with the homages and services of free holders, with feus and forfeitures, mills, multures and their profits. He also wills and grants that they may have the said barony in free forest, with the courts and escheats pertaining to free forest, and that James and his heirs or assigns may have the said barony of the sheriffdom of Roxburgh; performing suit of court at his sheriff court of Roxburgh.
