Description
Robert, king of Scots, has given his beloved and faithful Robert Stewart, son and heir of Walter, Steward of Scotland, knight, for his homage and service, all the following lands and baronies, namely the land and barony of Eckford in the sheriffdom of Roxburgh (ROX) which Lord Roger de Mowbray knight forfeited to him, the land and barony of Nesbit (ROX) except the lands in the valley of Liddel adjacent to the said barony, the land and barony of Longnewton and Maxton (ROX), and the land and barony of Caverton (ROX) in the same sheriffdom of Roxburgh which William de Soules knight forfeited to him; holding by Robert and the legitimate heirs of his body in feu and heritage, in free baronies, with pits and gallows, sake and soke, toll and team, and infangenthef, with advowsons of churches and patronage of abbeys, homages and service of freeholders, with fees and forfeitures in time of war and time of peace, with bondi, bondages, neyfs and their offspring, mills, multures, forests, huntings, fowlings, fishings, for suit of court at his sheriffdom court of Roxburgh by one suitor annually when it should occur and the service of one knight in his common army. And if Robert should die without any legitimate heirs, the lands will revert to Walter Stewart.
