Description
David, king of Scots, to his chamberlain of Scotland, informing that the church of Glasgow and the successors of Blessed Kentigern (i.e., the bishops of Glasgow) were accustomed to received from the burgh ferme of Rutherglen (LAN) in the time of King Alexander III and Robert I, 40s for the maintenance of the lighting of that church and 100s for the maintenance of one chaplain celebrating the divine mass, and six marks for the maintenance of a deacon and a subdeacon ministering perpetually in that church; the king commands and instructs the chamberlain to pay the aforementioned sums from the rents of the burgh of Rutherglen to the church of Glasgow annually.
