Description
David, king of Scots, has given his beloved and faithful Patrick, son of the late Michael, Harper (Cithariste) of Carrick, all that land called 'Dalelachane' in the tenement of 'Ballemontyrcowyltane' (Baile Muintir Comaltain, or 'settlement of the kindred of Comaltan) in the earldom of Carrick in the sheriffdom of Ayr (AYR) which belonged to Andrew, son and heir of the said Patrick Harper and brother of the aforesaid Patrick, which Andrew resigned by staff and baton of his own free will at Ayr on the 23 May, AD 1344; having and holding in feu and heritage, as Andrew or the late Michael his father held the land of the king's lord father [Robert I]; rendering one silver penny at the church of Stratton on the feast of the Translation of St Cuthbert the bishop in the name of blanchferme for ward, relief, marriage, suit of court and all other exactions and services.
