Description
David, king of Scots, to his justiciars, sheriffs, and other officers: since the last chamberlain ayre was held at Dundee (ANG), it was found that the markets were being held at the monastery of Coupar [Angus], the vill of Kettins, the church of Alyth, and the vill of Kirriemuir (ANG) were prejudicial to the king and his burgh of Dundee. They are to publicly proclaim these markets forbidden. They are to confiscate the goods offered for sale contrary to this order, and to attach anyone contravening it to answer in person for their offence. All the king's men are forbidden, on pain of forfeiture, to attend, support, or maintain these fairs in any way.
