Description
David, king of Scots, to Master William Caldwell, his chancellor: because he has granted his beloved and faithful Alexander Stewart, knight, for his homage and service, all that land of Pettinain (LAN) due to the forfeiture of the late Herbert Maxwell; holding by Alexander and the male heirs legitimately procreated of his body for service owed and wont, and for the provision of four armed men and four archers for the work of the king whenever and as often as the king and his heirs should give notice. The king commands the chancellor to issue a charter under his great seal.
