Description
David, king of Scots, from the procurement and supplication of his beloved and special burgess of Inverness, John called 'Scot', the greater and wiser part of the community of the said burgh having been assembled previously for this in the king's presence, having agreed on the first Tuesday after the feast of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary [15 August] in the cemetery of the chapel of the blessed virgin Mary in Inverness in the year of our Lord 1359, for the praise and honour of God, the blessed virgin Mary and all the saints, has given the chapel of the blessed virgin Mary in Inverness, for the support of a chaplain celebrating divine service, a portion of land of the Carse, containing eighteen acres of land beside the land of the parish church of Inverness to the south; holding in pure and perpetual alms in perpetuity.
