David, king of Scots, has seen, inspected and diligently considered that donation of his beloved and faithful William, earl of Douglas and lord of the barony of Cavers made to Melrose abbey of the right of patronage and advowson of the church of Magna Cavers (ROX). [Charter of William, earl of Douglas] The king confirms the gift in pure and perpetual alms as attested in the earl's charter.
