Document 1/54/262 (RRS, vi, no. 238)

Description
David, king of Scots, having inspected a charter of the late Malcolm (IV), king of Scots, his illustrious predecessor, and of a confirmation which his late father (Robert I) made to his chaplains the abbot and convent of the monastery of Scone, he understands that the said abbey has free licence and faculty in all his forests and woods, as much in King Malcolm's time as in modern times, throughout his whole kingdom, to cut timbers, as well as for the buildings of themselves and their men, and for animal enclosures. In order to strengthen these privileges and liberties granted by his predecessors, he has granted to the religious free licence and faculty to cut timbers in his forests of Clunie (PER), Alyth (PER) and Plater (ANG) and the other forests of his kingdom. He commands the foresters of Clunie, Alyth and Plater and all his other foresters to not to harrass them in this.
