Document 1/54/337 (RRS, vi, no. 286)

Description
David, king of Scots, to his sheriffs of Perth and Forfar and their baillies, noting the complaint of the abbot and convent of Scone that some of his sheriffs of Perth and Forfar sustained grave injuries against their lands, possessions and men which they hold in pure and perpetual alms, in prises, tacks, tallages, carriages, averages, and other burdens. Because it is not his intention to deprive the said religious men of the liberties given by his lord father and confirmed by himself, he commands and instructs that no one should presume to act contrary to these letters by vexing the religious men.
