Description
David, king of Scots, with the consent of the three communities of his realm in his full parliament held at Scone on the day this charter was made, has given his beloved relative John Stewart, first-born son of Robert, steward of Scotland, his nepos, the earldom of Carrick (AYR); holding by John and Anabella his spouse, and their lawfully procreated heirs, in feu and heritage, as freely as any earl has held the earldom of Carrick, for service owed and wont.
