Description
Robert, bishop of Durham, has given, granted, and made firm by his charter to Henry of Horncastre, prior of Coldingham, and to the monks of the same place, one dwelling place in the the uilla of Holy Island on the north side of the Lamesete, which comprises 120 feet in length and as many in width; to the prior and monks and their successors to have and to hold of Bishop Robert and his successors freely, quietly, wholly and peacefully for ever; with 6 d. to be rendered thereupon yearly to the bishop and his successors at his exchequer at Norham at four terms of the year established in the Norhamshire in return for all service, custom, exaction, suit of court and demand; dated at (North)Allerton, 8 September 1279.
