Description
David, king of Scots, noting that William son of John, bearer of these letters, was his serf and native man (neyf) of his thanage of Tannadice (ANG), was made his free man, and similarly those who travel with him, and that they are free to go where they wish within the kingdom. He wills and grants that William and his fellow-travellers may be free and quit from all neyf servitude forever, and prohibits all his faithful men from disturbing them.
