[COLDINGHAM EXTENT CONTINUED] AYTON SUPERIOR (BWK). The Prior of Coldingham has in the said toun three tofts and two and a half ploughgates of land; each ploughgate contains 8 oxgangs, each oxgang has 13 acres, which two and a half ploughgates are worth 100s yearly. William son of Reginald held freely 60 acres of land with brewhouse, worth 30s, now forfeited, and in the hand of the Prior. Thomas Francis held two and a half ploughgates which is now leased out for 100s. It is forfeited, in the hand of the Prior. Adam of Lamberton held a half ploughgate , worth 20 annually. Inquest of forfeiture to be held. Richard son of Robert son of the Seneschal held three oxgangs of land, worth 16s yearly, now in the hand of the Prior. John Ayre held three oxgangs of land worth ... per year. Are now in the hand of the Prior. William of Nesbit held two oxgangs of land, worth 8s. yearly, now in the hand of the Prior. Richard Francis held six oxgangs of land, worth 40s, now in the hand of the Prior. John son of Adam held two oxgangs of land, worth 12s yearly, now in the hand of the Prior. He also held three rods of land worth 6d per year, now in the hand of the Prior. Lord Ingram de Guines held one toft and one oxgang, worth 5s yearly, paying rent to the House of Coldingham 16d per year, three works in the autumn with one man, to have food allowance, to work at the millpond, to carry timber and millstones, and to roof the mill. Robert the mareschal holds one toft and one oxgang of land, paying 6d yearly in rent. MILLS: There used to be two mills; now there is one, and it is now valued at ten pounds. And there is a fishery, but it pays no rent except for teinds, and it is now worth 3s. SUM total 33 pounds, 2 shillings, and 3 pence, with teinds of the fishery.
