Document 2/51/7 (Glas. Reg., no. 228)
- Description
- Yvain, dean of Christianity of Peebles and of Lanark writes to Sir Robert, bishop of Dunblane, sole papal judge-delegate, stating that he has received his letter to him, by which Robert states that he has accepted a papal mandate which he is sending to Yvain to be examined, and to be sent back to him, and if Yvain or his persona is neglected or detained, Yvain may summon Master William of Lindsay, acting for the archdeacon of Glasgow, and Master William, called Salsarium, acting for his official, to appear before Robert or his commissioners in the parish church [of Stirling] on Monday after the feast of St Luke, the evangelist, to answer to the dean and chapter of Glasgow according to this papal mandate. On that day he may relate his citation through his letters patent. Thus, Yvain acts on the authority of this mandate to summon Sir R[obert], bishop of Glasgow, just as he had summoned the persona of the bishop on the morrow of St Mary Magdalene, at Edoluistum, where Master William, the ‘saucer’, was celebrating in the arch-diaconal chapter, Yvain summoned to the same place Masters William of Lindsay, firstly, and William, the ‘saucer’. So that the persona of the same Master William, the ‘saucer’, understands this citation, Yvain has summoned Master W. of Lindsay, a second time, to his church of Skirling (PEB) on the vigil of St James, that they may be present before Robert, in the parish church of Stirling on Monday after the feast of St Luke the evangelist.
