Document 2/51/9 (Glas. Reg., no. 226)

Description
Yvain, dean of Christianity of Peebles and of Lanark writes to Sirs Robert, bishop of Dunblane, and Laurence, bishop of Argyll, papal judges-delegate, stating that he has received their letters to him, acting on a papal mandate from Pope Gregory X, in which they state that he may advise and induce Sir R[obert], bishop of Glasgow, to desist from attacking and molesting the dean and chapter concerning the land of Carmyle (LAN), as stated in the first mandate of the pope, and as the letters patent of John, bishop of Glasgow, of good memory, asserted concerning the collation of the land made to the same dean and chapter, which had been unjustly detained, so that [the dean] may be restored. [Robert] may make competent satisfaction or settle amicably on Monday after the feast of St Dionysus following, otherwise [Yvain] may summon the same to appear before them or their commissioners in the parish church of Stirling on that Monday, at which time he may relate his citation through his letters patent. Thus, Yvain acts on the authority of this mandate to summon Sir R[obert], bishop of Glasgow, just as he had summoned the persona of the bishops on the day of St Oswald, the king, at Ancrum (ROX), in the same manner.
