Description
Master Peter of Paxton obligates himself to the abbot and convent of Holyrood for 13 marks, 3s. 4d., which he will pay to them at Huntingdon or to Brother William of the Hospital of Huntingdon at three times, that is, 3 marks 4d. at the Purification of the BVM, 5 marks on mid-Lent Sunday (‘mediam Quadragesimam’) and 5 marks on the last day in the Octaves of the Sunday after Easter (‘ultimum in octavis clausi Pasce’), for which he has pledged his Bible (‘Bibliothecam’), his Codex and New Digest in three parts, and Inforciatum with the _Institutionibus_. He has also sworn under oath to their proctors, Sir Radulf and Sir David, and in the presence of Brother William of the Hospital of Huntingdon, Philip and Simon [Peter’s] chaplains, and [Peter’s] other serviens, that he will pay to them 6 marks yearly at the feast of St Botulf in the name of the church of Paxton.
