Description
King Alexander II for Holyrood Abbey; has handed over at feu ferme all his land of Callendar (STL) which he held on day when he assigned to Malcolm, formerly thane of Callendar, land worth £40 in Callendar; to be held at feu-ferme rendering 160 marks, saving pleas of crown and saving to said thane, said land worth £40, and saving to monks of Newbattle the measured ploughgate of land in Callendar by marches by which abbot of Holyrood, Bernard Fraser and other responsible men assigned it to monks on king's command. He wishes and instructs that they hold this at feuferme, free of all service, aid, custom and exaction, saving defence of realm. The canons of Holyrood have pledged all their other lands to king in order to maintain the ferme.
