Description
Abbot Robert and convent of Dunfermline for Simon, called Dereth, son of late Thomas Dereth of Kinglassie; have given office of 'Dereth' (deòradh, 'dewar', relic or relic-keeper) of a named place and annual rent pertaining to same office. If his heirs are found to perform competently in that office, they shall be sufficient and useful, if they are useless, abbot, for a time, shall provide for office as he sees fit. Simon is to render annually one pair of white Parisian gloves or 4d. at feast of the Translation of Blessed Margaret, queen.
