Aed (‘Hugo’) son of Aed (‘Hugo’) son of Gillemichael earl of Fife, has given and granted, and corroborated with the impression of his seal, to St Andrews Cathedral Priory, the church of Markinch (FIF), with all its pertinents.

Hugo is also known in contemporary documents as 'Eggu', and John Bannerman has suggested that both Hugh and his father, Hugh, were French or Latin translations for Gaelic Aed. Hugh's descendants became the family of Abernethy. See RRS ii, nos. 28, 459.
