Document 3/11/24 (C.A. Rent., 334, no. 37)

Description
Conan ('Cuming'), son of Earl Henry of Atholl, for Coupar Angus Abbey; donation of of easements of his wood, of all ‘Glenherthy’ (Glen Errochty, PER?) and ‘Tolikyne’ (Creag Tulloch or Tulach, PER?).
Firm date
1235 X 1242
Dating Notes
See _Lind. Cart._, no. 73, which probably dates to 1235 × 42. Like that charter, this grant offers access to his woods to monks. Watt suggested a much earlier date for this charter (ca. 1215×20) based on Master John the physician, but the evidence for Conan’s activity points mainly to the period of vacancy in the earldom; note also that the confirmation by Conan’s son Eogan was made about a generation later.
