Description
Roland son of Uhtred has given, and established by his charter, to Melrose Abbey, one saltworks in Preston (in Kirkbean ph., KCB), in pure and perpetual alms, with pasture for six cows, six oxen and one horse, and with a full toft and croft for building a house; and he has granted easements of his wood in Preston for the support of the saltpans.
