- Description
- Roland son of Uhtred has given and granted in perpetual alms to Holm Cultram Abbey at feu-ferme the villa called Kirkgunzeon (KCB) with all its pertinents, by the stated bounds, as freely and fully as his father Uhtred and himself Roland have held it, with all its pertinents; and he has given one saltworks outwith the aforesaid bounds in ‘Locchendelo’ (Loch Kindar) and timber as necessary, and pasture for four oxen, 500 pigs without pannage, throughout all the forests of his demesne, annually from Michaelmas to the feast of St Andrew, and easements of his wood of Preston (Kirkbean ph., KCB), and in ‘Lochildela’ until ‘Pollesteresheued’ material and timber and other necessary things to the house of Holm and to their own uses, and harbours which will be most useful and convenient to them throughout his whole land, and roads and paths without disturbance, coming and going from the harbours at the sea to the grange, for themselves, their men and their chattels, carts and packhorses, free and quit from all services, customs and exactions and all earthly service and aid pertaining to him and his heirs, for ten pounds annually, five at Pentecost and five on Martinmas.
