Saer de Quincy, earl of Winchester, in the presence of the lord king of Scotland and his magnates in his full court at Forfar, has quitclaimed to Holyrood Abbey in perpetuity the right that he was seen to have had in the church of Tranent (ELO) and its pertinents, for the welfare of the soul of his lords the kings of Scots and others. Moreover, he established for them one ploughgate of land and ten acres in the territory of Tranent at Falside (ELO), with free exit and common pasture, which his father gave them in free and perpetual alms, as his charter attests. He also establishes for them, that whole land in Niddrie (MLO) which his father gave them to the service of the chapel of the same villa, in free and perpetual alms, by its right bounds, which his father seised the canons in the presence of worthy men.
