Description
Pope Alexander III writes to the abbot, co-abbots and convents of the entire Cistercian order, noting that that the collection of subsidies and other exactions imposed on the Cistercians and their houses by the apostolic see or its legates shall not be valid through letters of the see or of its legates which do not make full and express mention of this sort of indulgence and the order. Any sentences of excommunication, suspension and interdict promulgate on this occasion will not be valid.
