Description
Pope Calixtus II informs John, bishop of Glasgow that because of the pleas by Alexander, king of Scots, he permitted a delay in John’s return to the obedience of Archbishop Thurstan of York. But Thurstan reports in a letter that John refuses to comply. The pope commands that within thirty days of receiving his letter John should return to the obedience of the archbishop. Otherwise Calixtus will ratify the sentence which Thurstan has promulgated against him.
