Document 2/139/101 (Dunf. Reg., no. 256)

Description
Pope Honorius III writes to the bishop of Glasgow and the abbot and convent of Dunfermline noting that, in regard to the mills which Master Acuncius, of good memory, sub-deacon and papal chaplain, held in benefice from them, they had bestowed to Stephen, clerk of the Noble Man John Mancin Civis Romani, the rent of 20 marks. He indulges that since the said master held the mills and they had granted the said rent, they may not, after the death of the same, grant those mills in benefice at any time, or assign a pension or rent there. Since Stephen shall pay the debt, they might be transferred to their uses.
