Description
Pope Innocent IV indulges to all the bishops and prelates of other churches throughout the kingdom of Scotland, at the request of the king of Scotland, that ecclesiastical causes arising within Scotland shall not be tried by the legates out of its bounds. But should the apostolic see for any lawful reason ordain that such should be tried out of Scotland, they are not to be tried in the city of diocese of York, but only in Carlisle or Durham, as being nearer Scotland.
