Description
Pope Gregory IX writes to the abbot and convent of Paisley, noting that the number of personae and retinues was fixed by the Lateran council, and thus, moved by the abbey’s supplications, inhibits bishops and other prelates, when visiting Paisley’s churches from exceeding the said number and also from holding procurations from them above the said number.
