Description
Pope Honorius [III] takes the abbot and convent of Holyrood, with their people and monastery, into the protection of St Peter, and he especially establishes the island in Galloway called Inchtrail (St Mary’s Isle, KCB) with its churches, chapels, lands, pastures, fisheries, and other goods pertaining to it; the wasteland which is called Ogilface (WLO), and one ploughgate of land in Dalgarnock (DMF); one mill in East Linton (ELO) with all teinds which come from the lordship of Pentland (MLO); one ploughgate of land in Falside (ELO); the render of half a mark in the mill of Athelstaneford (ELO), half a ploughgate of land in Longniddry (ELO); one house in (‘South’) Berwick (BWK), with two oxgangs of land in Gorgie (MLO); half the Port of Leith (MLO); the teinds of the sea creatures and of all profits produced to the king of Scots between the River Avon (STL/WLO) and Cockburnspath (BWK).

13 kal. Apr., pontifical year 1; probably Honorius III due to dating at Lateran, Honorius IV dates at Rome and S. Sabina consistently between 18 September 1285 and 27 June 1286, but it is possible that it is 1286 due to mention of South Berwick.
