Document 2/205/2 (Med. Papal Reps., App. V, no. 2)

Description
Bartholomew, archdeacon of Amiens, papal chaplain and ‘auditor contradictarum’ writes that Heremita de Guarcino, procurator of the bishop of St Andrews, petitioned for an apostolic letter on the bishop’s behalf, recited here, from Pope Urban stating that the bishop of St Andrews may set values for perpetual vicarages in his churches and to augment them from the churches, whereby Raynald de Poggibonsi, procurator of the prior and chapter of St Andrews, objected to the same letter in the public audience on their behalf, finally withdrawing his objection on condition that the aforesaid prior and convent not be summoned and that no prejudice be created for them by the aforesaid letter, and that the same letter would not extend to them in any way, which the other party firmly promised.
