Document 2/143/125 (Lind. Cart., no. 99)

Description
Pope Innocent IV writes to the abbot and convent of Lindores, noting that the late David, earl of Huntingdon, founder of the monastery, conferred to them the right of patronage which he had in the church of Dundee, in the diocese of Brechin, and the diocesan of this place, with the consent of his chapter, considered the same church to be granted to them for their own uses, and what was done by the same bishop was established by the apostolic see. He thus grants that no prejudice should come to the monastery in respect to the church from the fact that the brethren who have been accustomed to be in the church of Brechin were called céli De and now by name-change are to be styled canons.
